Nieda Massey

Nieda was born on May 23, 1999, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Jaleel Massey and Frances Selby. She was the eldest sister to Elizabeth, Christina, Jaleel, James, and Jaylen.

Nieda spent her early years with her parents in Newark, New Jersey. In 2008, the family moved to Kinston, North Carolina, where she attended North West Elementary School, Rochelle Middle School, and Kinston

High School. Nieda was determined to achieve great things and received her GED in 2019. She then started online college courses, while working for  Alside Windows and Lenor Memorial Hospital.

When around her loved ones or people she valued, Nieda was a true comedian. If she felt tension in any room, she would crack a joke and have the whole room in stitches.  She was the master of making people smile.

Nieda was all about her family. The love she had for her sisters, brothers, and godchildren was unmatched. She cared for them as if they were her own. She was her mom and her dad’s wingman. Always there for whatever they need.

She was an awesome cook and would often act as her mom’s sous chef.  Truthfully, all the best chefs do their best work while listening to music. You would often find Nukie in the kitchen cooking and listening to Chris Brown.

In July of 2022, Nieda met Elbert Bryant, who referred to her as the smallest but strongest person in the room – his “Mighty Mouse”. They spent just about every minute together and became each other’s backbone and strength.

Nieda Alliah Virginia Massey passed away on February 7, 2024, in Greenville, North Carolina. She was greeted at the heavenly gates by her ancestors and her children

Nieda leaves to mourn (immediate family): her parents: Frances Selby and Jaleel Massey; her sisters Elizabeth(Massey), and Christina (Massey); her brothers  Jaleel (Massey), James (Massey) and Jaylen(Massey);

 Her fiancé Elbert Byrant III, mother-in-law Belinda Newborn; sisters in laws Taylor and Constance Bryant; Brother-in-law Bonquay Bryant; Her grandmothers Juanita Rochelle and Joseline Massey; Her grandfather(s)

 Michael Rochelle, James S. Johnson (predeceased). Her aunties and uncles: Derric (Glasford) and Faye(Payne), Nichole and Mark Snyder, David (Selby) and Laura (Rodriguez), (Felicia Selby), Tuana McQueen,'

 Aurasin Massey, Victory Fisher Neil Rodgers, and a host of first cousins (over 20).

Nieda also had an extensive extended family, to name a few:  Ishiana, Brittany, Damesha, Juanita, Sherri, Margie, and Michael Cannon.
