In humble submission to Our Lord Jesus Christ, Mr. Shannon G. Whitfield and The Staff of Whitfield Mortuary, LLC formally announces the Heavenly promotion of, 86 year old, Mother Estella Moore of Kinston, NC who traded time for eternity on July 31, 2023 at her residence.
She was born in Jones County on April 6, 1937. Estelle graduated from Woodington High School, then went to beauty school in New Bern where she obtained her license in only three months..
Estelle was hired at Caswell Center in 1962. She held several positions while employed there and retired after thirty years. Being a deeply religious woman began at an early age. She started attending Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church at the age of ten until 2014. Through the years she had numerous roles at Macedonia; singing in the choir, Pastor's Aide, Cleaner of the Church and driving Ms. Venetta Lockhart (the church pianist). Estelle also had a second job utilizing her beauty license at Lucille's Salon on Queen Street. She worked there many years, but began doing hair from home after retiring from Caswell. She continued to give woman the best Press & Curl in town until November 2020.
Estelle is survived by a daughter, Debbie Rivers (Gregory) of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren Carmen, Irvin, Alexis (Tanya) and Jasmine; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two sisters Glenda Saul's of Kinston, NC and Marie Bodrick of Cameron, SC. She also has a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at twelve in the afternoon, Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 from the sanctuary of St. Augustus AME Zion Church (318 North Street - Kinston, North Carolina 28501). Following the service, the funeral cortege will process to Pinelawn Memorial Park to lay Mother Moore's mortal frame to rest.
Public Visitation will take place one hour prior to the homegoing service.
